Dan came to Tenkuujo at the age of 12 and was chosen as HibaOh at the age of 14. Before coming to Tenkuujo, Dan was a mean-spirited bully, who enjoyed showing off and fighting. But during a training match, he wounded his sparring partner after losing his temper. Vishnu saw this and scolded him, telling him that strength should be used to protect others, not hurt them. She gave him her pendant and told him to think of it whenever he felt like beating someone up. Since then, Dan has followed Vishnu obsessively, and carrying the pendant with him always.
In the OAV, he gets a job as a road worker.
